Garlic Fights Cancer!!!
Eating garlic seems to protect against stomach and Colo-
rectal cancer, researchers report. Dr. Lenore Arab and colleagues from
the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill analyzed 18 studies looking at
garlic eaters.
The average intake of the highest consumers of raw or cooked garlic was
18.3 grams per week (about six cloves). Based on six studies, the findings
suggest "high consumption of raw or cooked garlic
decreases the risk of colorectal cancer from 10% to nearly
50%," the authors write. Based on four studies, the risk of
developing stomach cancer was cut in half for those who
consumed the most garlic. [American Journal of Clinical Nutrition October,

Modern science has shown that garlic is a powerful natural
antibiotic, albeit broad-spectrum rather than targeted. The body
does not appear to build up resistance to the garlic, so its
positive health benefits continue over time.
Garlic Sauce
Ingredients:
6 garlic cloves,
crushed
1 ½ cups of water
½ cup of broth
½ cup of sugar
¼ cup of soy sauce
3 tablespoons of
cornstarch
Salt and pepper
to taste.
Preparation:
Mix the cornstarch
and the sugar
together.
Add the broth, soy
sauce and water to
make a gravy.
Stir well; then add the
garlic.
Heat over low flame
until the mixture
thickens.
Garlic Shrimp
Ingredients:
1/3 cup of butter
1 ½ to 2 pounds large
shrimp, peeled and
deveined
4 to 6 medium cloves
garlic, crushed and
minced
1/3 cup chopped fresh
parsley
2 ½ tablespoons of
lemon juice
Salt
Preparation:
In a large skillet, heat butter
over medium heat until
butter stops foaming, about
30 to 45 seconds.
Add the shrimp and garlic
and sauté over medium
heat, turning frequently
until the shrimp just turn
pink, about 4 to 5 minutes.
Add the parsley, lemon
juice, and salt then stir well.
Remove the pan from the
heat and serve.

Garlic is especially mellow in taste when roasted for long periods of time. Store garlic in mesh onion bags, or in a cool place that is out of the sunlight. Never store whole garlic heads in the refrigerator or freezer. If you have leftover chopped or minced garlic, cover it with oil, refrigerate and use within a day or two.

To rid your breath of garlic chew fresh parsley, a slice of raw ginger or fresh mint.
Garlic Chicken
Ingredients:
4 skinless, boneless
chicken breasts
1/8 cup vegetable oil
salt
pepper
4 garlic cloves, finely
minced
Sprigs of fresh
thyme, oregano and
chives, chopped
juice of 1 lemon
1/2 tsp. Lemon zest
Preparation:
Add chicken to all
ingredients that have been
mixed in a salable
plastic bag.
Marinate overnight.
Grill until chicken is
done inside.
